Airlift director Raja Krishna Menon praises Captain Smit Machhar for courage during Fly Dubai hijack
Filmmaker Raja Krishna Menon has lauded Captain Smit Machhar on social media for his courage and presence of mind when a Fly Dubai aircraft was hijacked.
Raja Krishna Menon, director of the film "Airlift", has taken note of the courage and presence of mind shown by Captain Smit Machhar when a Fly Dubai aircraft was hijacked. Menon has praised Machhar warmly on social media.
In a post about Machhar, Menon wrote, "Captain Smit Machhar's immense presence of mind, selflessness and incredible courage show us once again that being a pilot is not merely about flying a plane, but about much more beyond it!"
Menon did not stop there. He saluted Machhar, saying, "We salute you, Captain Smit Machhar!"
Some situations demand more of a pilot than flying an aircraft safely. In difficult circumstances, it is presence of mind, bold decisions and selflessness that are truly tested. Menon viewed Machhar's courage during the hijack in this light.
Menon described Machhar's act as an example that evokes a sense of humanity and responsibility. In his view, true bravery in the skies does not depend on technical skill alone. A person's character, presence of mind and ability to take the right decision in an instant matter just as much in difficult times.
"Airlift", directed by Menon, was well received by audiences. The film told the story of one of history's large rescue operations. Recognising the bravery of people who show courage in real life is therefore of particular significance to Menon.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Menon is making his debut as a director in Tamil cinema. He is directing a psychological thriller starring Trisha Krishnan, Aparna Balamurali and Radhika Sarathkumar. Audiences are also looking forward to the upcoming film.
