Many people today live away from home in rented houses because of jobs, business or studies. Living in such a house can sometimes bring negative feelings. Some Vastu remedies are said to help people feel positive even in a rented home.

These remedies need no demolition and no change of house. Here are the Vastu steps suggested for removing negativity from a rented home.

The first concerns the main door, which Vastu Shastra regards as extremely important. Tenants should keep the main door clean and draw a swastika on it. A lamp should be lit at the main door during fasts and festivals. According to Vastu Shastra, this brings positive energy into life.

The second involves salt and alum. If you sense negative energy in a rented home, mop the house daily with salt water. This is said to remove the negativity gradually. In addition, place a few pieces of alum in a glass bowl in one corner of the house and add a little salt. This is said to bring positivity into life. The alum and salt should be replaced every 15 days.

The third is the north-east corner. The north-east direction is regarded as the abode of the gods, and deities are installed in the prayer room at this spot. The north-east corner and the prayer room should therefore always be kept clean. If not daily, clean them at least every other day. This is said to remove Vastu defects and bring the blessings of the gods.

The fourth concerns walls and curtains. According to Vastu Shastra, colours have a deep effect on our lives. Tenants should avoid painting walls in dark colours, as this can cause stress. Light yellow, white or cream are considered best for walls. Hanging light-coloured curtains is also beneficial.
