The Union Public Service Commission declared the Civil Services Main Examination 2026 result on November 5, making more than 2,500 candidates eligible for the personality test.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the result of the Civil Services Main Examination 2026 on November 5. More than 2,500 candidates who cleared the examination are now eligible for the next stage, the interview, also called the personality test. The result PDF can be viewed and downloaded on the commission's official website, upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is considered one of the most prestigious competitive examinations in the country. Candidates take it to become officers in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS), as well as in various Group A and Group B services of the central government.

This year's Main examination was held between August 21 and 30, 2026. The written test assessed candidates' subject knowledge, analytical ability, understanding and writing skills. With the result out, the qualified candidates must now begin preparing for the personality test.

The commission has released the list of candidates eligible for the interview as a PDF. It carries candidates' roll numbers, so they will have to search the full list for their own. Clearing the Main examination does not guarantee final selection. The candidature of those eligible for the interview remains subject to verification of the required eligibility conditions and documents.

The result can be checked online from home. Candidates should first visit upsc.gov.in and go to the "Examinations" section of the website. They should then choose "Written Results" and click the result link for "Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026". The PDF list of roll numbers will open on the screen, and can be downloaded and saved on a device. To find a roll number in the list, press Ctrl + F on a Windows computer or Cmd + F on a Mac and enter the number.

Candidates will have to keep some documents ready for the interview. These include proof of age, certificates of educational qualification and, where applicable, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) certificates. Where applicable, a certificate for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), a disability (PwBD) certificate and, for those claiming the ex-servicemen category benefit, the related certificates are also required. As per the commission's instructions, candidates claiming reservation or other concessions must submit original certificates. Candidates should check the official notification for the validity and conditions of the certificates.

The full schedule of the personality test is yet to be released. The interview dates and related instructions will be posted on the commission's website. Eligible candidates may also be sent the necessary information on their registered e-mail addresses. The interviews are reported to be held at the UPSC office at Dholpur House on Shahjahan Road in New Delhi.

Final selection will be based on the Main examination, the personality test and the eligibility conditions set by the commission. Candidates are therefore advised to focus on interview preparation and to keep watching the website for the schedule, documents and further instructions.
