NEET PG 2026 second-round counselling registration now to begin on November 7
The Medical Counselling Committee has revised the second-round schedule after receiving an updated list of postgraduate medical seats from the National Medical Commission.
Candidates taking part in the second round of NEET PG 2026 counselling have been given a revised schedule. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has reset the second-round dates. Registration and fee payment, earlier due to begin on November 6, will now start on November 7, 2026.
The decision was taken after the National Medical Commission (NMC) shared details of new postgraduate medical seats. Candidates seeking admission to MD, MS and other postgraduate medical courses will now have to complete the entire process according to the new schedule.
According to the MCC's official notice, the NMC on November 3, 2026 sent an updated list of postgraduate medical seats, known as the seat matrix. It includes seats that were recently approved. This means counselling may now offer admission on more seats than before.
The medical colleges and institutions concerned have been directed to verify these new seats before they are added to counselling. Colleges must check the correct count of seats using the reservation roster. This entire process is to be completed by November 6.
The MCC has asked institutions to ensure that the number of seats they have declared, and their distribution by reservation, are exactly correct. If any error or discrepancy is found in the seat details, it must be reported to the MCC. Once verification is complete, counselling will proceed according to the corrected seat matrix.
The second-round process includes registration, fee payment, choice filling, choice locking and seat allotment. Candidates can see full details of the counselling on the official website, mcc.nic.in.
Candidates have been advised to read the revised schedule and notices on the website carefully before applying. This will help avoid problems during registration and seat allotment. Every candidate taking part in the second round must now apply according to the new date.
