Woman held in Nagpur for stealing gold chain from co-passenger's purse in e-rickshaw
Crime Branch arrested a 40-year-old woman and recovered a gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh stolen from a 54-year-old passenger on September 1.

Nagpur: The Crime Branch has arrested a woman accused of stealing a gold chain from the purse of a woman travelling in an e-rickshaw. A chain worth Rs 1 lakh has been recovered from her.
On September 1, Meena Hatmode, 54, was travelling in an e-rickshaw from Tukdoji Putla to Medical Square. During the ride, an unidentified woman in the e-rickshaw took the gold chain, worth Rs 1 lakh, from her purse without her noticing. Based on Meena's complaint, Ajni police registered a case of theft.
The Crime Branch's anti-chain snatching team took up the investigation. On the basis of technical investigation and a tip-off, police detained Usha Morelal Dongo, 40, a resident of Rahatenagar Toli, Ajni. The stolen gold chain has been recovered from Usha, and she has been handed over to Ajni police.
Police said there are a large number of women offenders in Rahatenagar Toli. They commit thefts at bus stands or crowded places. Usha commits thefts while claiming to be a labourer. This is the first time she has been caught by police.
