Police have stepped up their investigation into the firing linked to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu, Mumbai. A court has sent three suspected shooters, arrested in Kota in Rajasthan, to 10 days in police custody. Police are also acting in Mumbai, Delhi and Haryana to trace the alleged network that supplied the weapons.
The firing took place on October 18. Two of the three suspected shooters have been identified as Rehan and Hritik alias Roshan. The third accused is a minor. It is alleged that after the shooting they were trying to flee towards Nepal by train. Rajasthan Police, however, acted in Kota and arrested them. They were then brought to Mumbai, where the court granted 10 days in police custody.
During the custody, the investigation is expected to examine what the motive behind the firing was, who gave the accused the weapons, and whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
The probe is not limited to those who fired the shots. The supply of weapons and the entire chain behind it is also being questioned. Kunal and Sumit of Sonipat in Haryana, along with two women named Radha and Babita, have also been arrested in action linked to the case. It is alleged that Kunal and Sumit brought pistols and cartridges from Punjab. The weapons were then, according to the allegation, delivered by train through the women to the suspected shooters in Mumbai.
There is also information that another suspect from Sonipat, named Ankit, has been arrested. He is accused of having links with Anil Pandit, who is associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The investigation will clarify the actual role of each of them.
The incident took place at about 7.30 pm on October 18. A vehicle linked to Tiger Shroff was returning after he took part in a football match when about five bullets were allegedly fired at it. Tiger Shroff's driver, Firdaus, was hit in the hand, and a fan was also injured. Both are reported to be stable.
Concern was expressed about Mumbai's security after the incident. Anil Pandit, described as linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is claimed to have taken responsibility for the firing. However, this claim and the roles of those concerned need to be confirmed by the official investigation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed confidence that strict action will be taken against criminal gangs in Mumbai. Police are trying to trace the alleged weapons supply chain by arresting suspects.
With the three suspected shooters now in 10-day police custody, attention is on who else is named, how the weapons were delivered and what the real motive for the firing was.
