Tiger killed by unidentified vehicle on Nagpur-Bhandara road, forest department probes
A tiger died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Khutsawari phata on the Nagpur-Bhandara road on Tuesday evening.
Another case of human-wildlife conflict has come to light in Nagpur district. A tiger died on the Nagpur-Bhandara road late on Tuesday evening after being hit by an unidentified vehicle. The accident took place near Khutsawari phata in Lakhani tehsil. As soon as news of the incident spread, a forest department team rushed to the spot and began the necessary action.
According to the information that has come out, the tiger was crossing the road at around 6:45 pm on Tuesday when a speeding unidentified vehicle hit it hard. The impact was so severe that the tiger died on the spot. After the accident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene and has not been identified so far.
As soon as people in the area learnt of the accident, a large crowd gathered at the spot. Local residents immediately informed the forest department, following which a forest department team reached the site and inspected the entire area.
The Nagpur district forest department team prepared a panchnama of the accident site and sent the tiger's carcass for a post-mortem. Confirmation of the exact cause of death is expected only after the post-mortem report comes in.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the tiger's death on the Nagpur-Bhandara road remains untraced. The forest department team is investigating the case and trying to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. Officials are gathering information from the accident site and the surrounding area to trace the vehicle and its driver.
The accident has once again raised questions about road safety in areas frequented by wildlife. Controlling vehicle speed and maintaining proper monitoring on roads that pass through forest and wildlife areas is considered essential to protecting the lives of wild animals.
