A shooting in broad daylight has caused alarm in Nashik's Adgaon area. A suspect who arrived on a bike fired a pistol under the bridge near the T-point on Juna New English School Road. Both bullets missed, and the complainant had a narrow escape. Nobody was killed or injured, but the incident has spread considerable fear in the area.
According to the information available, the complainant, Kailas Malode, an Adgaon resident and farmer, was returning home after finishing work in his field between about 2 pm and 2.30 pm. As he passed under the bridge on Juna English School Road, the suspect, Rahul Ambekar, and an accomplice reached the spot on a bike.
Rahul lives in the Nashik Road area and works for a private finance company. Malode's wife also works for a private finance company. About six months ago, the two had a dispute, which was settled between them.
Because of that old enmity, the suspect stopped Malode and argued with him. The argument escalated into a scuffle. When the quarrel peaked, the suspect pulled out a pistol, fired two rounds in the air and fled.
On receiving news of the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Monica Raut, Assistant Commissioner of the Panchavati division Shekhar Deshmukh and Senior Inspector Pravin Chavan reached the spot with their team. A crime detection squad was with them.
According to police, the suspect has no previous police record. Where he obtained the pistol is being investigated. The process of registering a case is under way. Police have sent out two teams to trace the absconding suspects.
No arrest has been reported so far. The suspect and his accomplice are absconding, and police are searching for them.
