The body of a three to four month old girl was found in the Bindusara river, which flows through the Khasbag area of Beed city, on Wednesday afternoon, causing shock in the area. Police believe the infant may have been thrown into the river three to four days earlier. Police have begun investigating the case.

The body was first spotted by people who had gone fishing in the river. Alarmed by its condition, they immediately informed the police. People said there were injury marks on parts of the body. As the news spread, residents in the area reacted with both grief and anger.

On receiving information, API Rathod of the city police station reached the spot with his team. Police prepared a panchnama, took the body into custody and sent it to the district hospital's post-mortem house. The actual cause of death is expected to be known only after the post-mortem report.

In the initial investigation, police found that the girl was wearing a pink frock and had a black-and-yellow beaded bracelet on her wrist. Police are now trying to identify the child based on these clothes and ornaments.

A major question before police is whether the child was thrown into the Bindusara river from the bridge or was placed there by someone who climbed down to the riverbed. To find an answer, police are checking footage from nearby CCTV cameras for any clue about a suspicious person or vehicle. So far, no one has been arrested or taken into custody.

The discovery of such a young child's body in the river has caused deep sorrow and anger among people in Beed city. Despite ongoing awareness campaigns such as "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" for the safety of girls, people have expressed concern over such incidents. Police now face the challenge of getting to the bottom of the case and tracking down the accused who put the child in the river.
