Nagpur: Man arrested for raping minor girl on false promise of marriage
A 30-year-old Yavatmal man has been arrested under rape and POCSO provisions after a 16-year-old girl in Nagpur became pregnant.
Nagpur: A minor girl was raped on the false promise of marriage, and the case came to light after she became pregnant. The Panchpaoli police have registered a case and begun an investigation.
The 16-year-old girl lives with her mother and brother. Her mother works as a domestic help, and her brother goes to school.
The girl came to know Imran Irfan Qureshi, 30, a resident of Yavatmal. Imran promised to marry her. He then came to her house and forcibly had sexual relations with her. He threatened to kill her family if she told anyone about the incident.
Some time later the girl became pregnant. She told her mother and other family members, who lodged a complaint at the Panchpaoli police station.
The police registered a case under rape provisions and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and arrested Imran.
