A thief struck in broad daylight on Nagpur's busy CA Road, breaking the window of a parked car and escaping with cash, a tablet and other valuables worth about Rs 1.32 lakh. Tehsil police are trying to trace the accused with the help of CCTV cameras.

With Deepavali approaching, thieves have begun targeting cars parked in crowded markets. The latest case was reported on Sunday afternoon near the Rokde Bandhu cloth shop on CA Road, in the Tehsil police station area.

Parag Shende, a doctor from Ballarshah in Chandrapur district, had come to Nagpur by car to buy wedding clothes. He parked near the Rokde Bandhu cloth shop and went inside to shop.

In the meantime, an unidentified person took advantage of the moment. The accused broke the car window and stole a black bag kept inside, along with Rs 1 lakh in cash in it, Rs 7,000 kept in a purse, bank debit cards and a Redmi tablet. When the doctor returned from shopping, he found the window broken and the valuables missing from the car.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated at about Rs 1.32 lakh. The car was also damaged.

After a complaint was filed, Tehsil police registered a case against the unidentified accused and began an investigation. Police are going through footage from nearby CCTV cameras and hope that the movements of the suspect captured on camera will help them reach the accused.
