Tehsil police in Nagpur have foiled an alleged plot to extort a large sum from the director of an oil company in Rajasthan by implicating him in a false case. Aditya Sureshchandra Gupta (30), a resident of Agra, has been arrested. He has been sent to jail on a court order. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane gave the information at a press conference on Saturday.

Irfan Ali Salim Teli (32) owns an oil company in Ratangarh, Rajasthan. Police investigation has revealed that a false complaint was filed against him in an attempt to extort Rs 3 crore from him. It is alleged that a 19-year-old student studying in Nagpur was lured with an offer of Rs 5 lakh for this.

At Aditya's instance, the student lodged a complaint against Irfan at Tehsil police station. Police initially registered a case against Irfan on her complaint. The case took a different turn in the further investigation. Police said Aditya had also got a similar case registered against Irfan in Pune. Irfan is currently in jail in that case. When Tehsil police took him into custody and questioned him, suspicious aspects of the case began to emerge.

The complaint referred to video evidence. The student was being questioned so that it could be seized. Police noticed that Aditya, who had come with her, repeatedly interrupted. They therefore made him sit apart and questioned the student separately. The questioning was conducted by constable Dhanraj Chinguwar under the guidance of Police Inspector Sanjay Mendhe.

In this separate questioning, the student said she did not know Irfan. Deputy Commissioner Madane said she also told police that she had never communicated with him on an app called "Meeka" and had filed the complaint only at Aditya's instruction.

Police then examined the data on the student's mobile phone. Police claim it showed that Aditya had hatched the conspiracy against Irfan. Aditya was arrested on that basis.

The student is originally from Chandrapur. She has lived in a rented room in Nagpur for the past three years and studies at a reputed college in the city. Aditya got her mobile number through a parcel. The two got acquainted as a result, and it is alleged that he then used this acquaintance to force her to file the complaint.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane and Assistant Commissioner of Police Shivprasad Parve. Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mendhe, Sub-Inspector Sandeep Bhitale and police constable Dhanraj Chinguwar carried it out.
