Women often keep trying something or the other to look fresh, using expensive skincare products or getting costly skin treatments done. But applying different products again and again can damage the quality of the skin. Instead of chasing expensive products, one should use the skincare that suits one's skin.
When skin turns oily, water is often splashed on the face repeatedly to freshen it. This tends to make the skin drier rather than fresher. If skincare products are used the right way, the skin stays fresh and healthy. The tips to follow in facial care are given below.
The first step is cleansing. Cleaning the skin first thing after waking up is considered essential. A mild face wash suited to the skin type should be used. It helps remove excess oil, sweat and dust that have collected on the skin. Hot water should not be used to wash the face, as it strips the face of its oil and moisture. Washing the face too often or rubbing it hard should also be avoided, as it can increase dryness and irritation.
The second step is applying a moisturiser. Many people skip moisturiser because their skin is oily, but then the skin does not get moisture. A light, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic moisturiser is described as very effective for oily skin. Moisturiser should therefore be applied regularly to retain the skin's moisture.
The third step is sunscreen. Sunscreen is described as essential for keeping the face fresh and the skin healthy. It should be applied to protect the skin from the sun's ultraviolet rays. A broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher should be applied before stepping out of the house. If the skin is very oily, a light, non-comedogenic or matte-finish sunscreen should be used.
The last point is about reducing excess oil on the face. Pressing clean blotting paper lightly on the skin is advised for this. Touching the face repeatedly should also be avoided. There is no need to wash the face again and again with cold water to reduce oiliness. Giving oneself time is also described as very important. If makeup is to be worn, a good product suited to oily skin should be used.
