Work on building a temple has begun at Karanji village in Gondpipri taluka. The construction was announced at the gram sabha on September 21 on the initiative of social worker Pradip Khobragade. Exactly a week later, on September 28, work began on the ground.

Karanji village in the taluka is considered important from the religious, social and cultural points of view. Villagers had been demanding a new temple in the village for several years. In view of this demand, Khobragade had assured the gram sabha that he would provide whatever help was needed to build the temple.

In line with the September 21 announcement, work on the temple started on September 28 with a bhoomipujan (ground-breaking ceremony). Villagers of Karanji took part with great enthusiasm. They said a new temple would further strengthen the religious, social and cultural atmosphere of the village.

Khobragade said, "The development of the village is not my personal goal, but one decided by everyone together. A temple is not just a place of worship; it is the centre of the village's unity, faith and culture. With the blessings of the villagers, we will complete this work successfully."

Suman Jengthe, Kamal Ramgirwar, Rekha Rathod, Sindhu Mohurle, Tara Pachare, Maya Atram, Jharabai Chandekar, Vandana Khobragade, Manisha Bhoyar, Vasudev Mandale, Abaji Mohurle, Sushil Mandale, Vishal Kodape, Ajay Chawatkar, Ankush Gohane, Ganpat Juware and Bandu Ka were among the large number of women and men from the village present at the ceremony.

Khobragade also said the Karanji temple is not just a place of worship but a symbol of the community's culture, unity and the village's development. According to him, with the villagers' cooperation the temple will become a centre of everyone's spiritual progress. The bhoomipujan was held in the spirit of "a promise given has been kept", he said, and everyone should now come forward together to complete the work quickly.
