Tech Mahindra's Asia head, Paramjit Dhankhar, was shot dead in Faridabad, part of Delhi-NCR, on the night of Dhanteras after a quarrel over car parking and walking a dog in a residential building in Sector 21C. His neighbour, Monu Sharma, is the accused.
Dhankhar, 50, lived in Singapore with his family. His nephew's wedding is on November 24, and he had arrived in Faridabad on November 5 for it.
On the night of November 6, Dhankhar returned home from the gym. He had an argument over parking his vehicle in the building's parking area with Sharma, who lives on the third floor. It is alleged that the dispute escalated and Sharma fired 15 rounds at Dhankhar from his licensed pistol. Seven bullets hit Dhankhar, and he died on the spot.
According to the information available, Dhankhar and Sharma had been quarrelling for some time over walking a pet dog and parking vehicles. Complaints had earlier been filed at the police station in the matter.
After the incident, Sharma fled with his entire family. Police have recovered empty cartridge casings from the spot. Dhankhar's body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Teams of Faridabad Police and the Crime Branch are searching for the absconding accused. No arrest has been reported so far. The incident has caused a major stir across the area.
