Crime Branch's anti-burglary squad arrested Karan Khemchand Meshram, 19, and detained a minor accomplice over a house break-in at a doctor's residence in Bajajnagar.

The Crime Branch's anti-burglary squad in Nagpur has solved a burglary at a doctor's house in the Bajajnagar police station area. The squad arrested the main accused and seized goods worth Rs 42.79 lakh from him. Police have also detained a minor accomplice.

The main accused is Karan Khemchand Meshram, 19, a resident of Lashkaribagh, Panchpaoli.

The burglary took place at the house of Dr Atul Keshavrao Kapse, 40, who lives in Surendranagar. According to the information available, Dr Kapse had gone to Bhubaneswar with his family and nobody was at home. The thieves targeted the house in the meantime. They broke the lock on the door, entered, and made off with items worth about Rs 7.16 lakh, including cash. Bajajnagar police had then registered a case.

Alongside the Bajajnagar police investigation, the Crime Branch's anti-burglary squad was also probing the case on its own. The squad went through footage from several CCTV cameras, from Dr Kapse's house to the routes around it. The footage led the police team to Lashkaribagh. The difficulty was that nobody there knew Karan.

Police then quietly questioned people in the area, and Karan was traced this way. Acting on the information received, he was caught. In questioning, he confessed to carrying out the burglary with his minor accomplice.

Police have seized a total of 296.07 grams of gold jewellery and 624.93 grams of silver jewellery from the accused. The entire seized property has been valued at Rs 42.79 lakh. The accused has been handed over to Bajajnagar police for further legal action.

The operation was carried out by a team of Inspector Dilip Chandan, API Nitin Chulpar, PSI Vivek Jhingare, ASI Nitin Tiwari, and head constables Prashant Gabhane, Ganesh Barde, Pankaj Nikam, Aman Raut and Sudhir Pawar.
