Tata Motors has launched its popular, affordable sedan Tata Tigor in a new avatar in the Indian market. The company has named the new car the Tata Aeris. It will be sold only as a private car and will not be available as a commercial vehicle.
The Aeris has been described as the successor to the Tigor, and has been made more modern and stylish than before. The starting ex-showroom price of this budget-friendly sedan is Rs 5,29,990. For those thinking of bringing home a new car this Diwali, the on-road price, down payment and EMI calculation may be useful.
The on-road price can vary from state to state. With an ex-showroom price of Rs 5,29,990, RTO charges of Rs 47,699 and insurance of Rs 31,713, the total on-road price comes to Rs 6,09,402.
Suppose a buyer makes a down payment of Rs 1 lakh. A car loan would then be needed for the remaining Rs 5,09,402. If the buyer's monthly income is good and the CIBIL or credit score is healthy, a loan at 10 per cent interest can be obtained easily.
If this loan is taken for five years, or 60 months, at 10 per cent interest, 60 instalments of Rs 10,823 each would have to be paid every month. Through the instalments, the buyer would repay a total of Rs 6,49,397. Adding the Rs 1 lakh down payment, the total cost of the car would be Rs 7,49,397.
On the cabin, the dual-tone theme is the same as in the Tiago. The base variant gets a 12.7 cm digital cluster, fabric seats and manual AC. Higher variants come with a 26 cm touchscreen (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), ventilated leather seats, rear AC vents, a wireless charger, 65W Type-C ports and a rotary gear selector. Boot space is 419 litres in the petrol model and about 227 litres in the CNG model.
Features include cruise control, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera with a dashcam function, a blind view monitor, rain-sensing wipers and iRA connected car technology. On safety, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors and a seatbelt reminder are standard on all variants. The Pure+ variant also gets ESP, hill hold and TPMS.
The engine options are a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol (86 PS power and 113 Nm torque) and an iCNG option (75.5 PS power and 96.5 Nm torque). The gearbox is a 5-speed manual (MT) or an AMT. Mileage is stated at about 19 to 20 kmpl for the petrol model and 28 km/kg for the CNG model.
The on-road price and EMI figures given here are only an example. They can change with the city, dealership, RTO and the variant chosen. According to experts, a buyer with a monthly income of Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 and no large existing debt can comfortably buy the car on an EMI of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 a month.
