The Relief and Rehabilitation Department issued two orders on November 2, 2026, opening the way for aid to farmers who lost farmland to floods and crops to heavy rain.

Chandrapur: The Relief and Rehabilitation Department issued two separate government orders on November 2, 2026, opening the way for financial aid to farmers hit by floods and heavy rain. One order covers damage to farmland from floods, and the other covers damage to crops from heavy rain.

MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar had repeatedly urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Makarand Patil to provide this aid. The decisions, which came just before Diwali, followed his demand and his persistent follow-up.

Between June and August 2026, heavy rain and floods caused major damage to farming in several districts of the state. Chandrapur district also saw flood conditions in July, and farmers in many villages were affected. Water from rivers and streams washed away fields, the fertile topsoil was stripped off, and the very character of the land changed. Heavy rain also destroyed the standing crop that many farmers had harvested or were about to harvest.

Mungantiwar had told the government that farmers who suffered losses in both kinds of disaster should receive fair financial assistance. He pursued the matter in particular with Minister Makarand Patil. Patil had assured Mungantiwar that, given the seriousness of the farmers' losses, a positive decision would be taken. Patil had also directed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Relief and Rehabilitation Department to take the necessary action immediately.

Following those directions, the department completed the required administrative steps and issued both orders on November 2, 2026. Under the first order, aid has been sanctioned from the State Disaster Response Fund, at the prescribed norms, for farmers who suffered damage to their farmland from heavy rain and floods. Under the second order, financial assistance has been sanctioned for farmers who lost crops to heavy rain between June and August 2026. This order directs that the aid be sent through DBT directly to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.

With separate orders issued for farmland damage and crop damage, farmers hit by the natural disaster will receive financial support.

Mungantiwar has raised farmers' issues with the government during earlier natural disasters as well. He has drawn the government's attention to matters such as drought relief, crop insurance, bonus for paddy growers, availability of farm inputs and farmers' financial difficulties. His position has been that whatever the disaster, farmers in distress should not be denied help. He made the same point firmly this time too.

Mungantiwar has expressed hope that, as per the provisions of both orders, the aid reaches eligible farmers without delay.
