The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has issued the exam city slip, which tells candidates their examination city, for Paper 1 of the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026. Candidates who applied for the recruitment examination can log in on the commission's official website, ssc.gov.in, to see their exam city.

SSC JE Paper 1 will be held from November 2 to 6, 2026. The recruitment drive will fill 1,748 engineer posts. The commission has also issued important instructions for candidates who will use a scribe and for those opting for certain special subjects.

On admit cards, the Paper 1 admit card is likely to be available for download about two to three days before the exam date. Candidates have been advised to check the commission's website regularly for the admit card and other exam-related updates.

According to the commission, the schedule is as follows: SSC JE Paper 1 will be held from November 2 to 6, 2026, while the JE Telecommunications Engineering examination will be held from November 30 to December 1, 2026. Exam city information for the Telecommunications Engineering examination will be issued about eight to ten days before the exam.

Candidates who want the help of a scribe in the exam must complete that process in time. The commission has linked scribe registration to Aadhaar authentication, so candidates may have to register their scribe afresh. The last date to complete the fresh registration and map the scribe's One-Time Registration (OTR) is 11 pm on October 27, 2026. Candidates should note that only those who complete this process successfully within the deadline will get the scribe facility.

There is also a chance to change the subject until October 27. The commission has allowed candidates who applied for JE (Telecommunications Engineering) and are eligible for the Scientific Assistant (SA) post to change their subject option. Those who had chosen Scientific Assistant as the default subject can choose Electrical and Telecommunications (EC/TC) as the default subject. Candidates who want Computer Science and Information Technology (CS/IT) or Physics can change the subject through the exam city selection option.

The last date for this is 11 pm on October 27, 2026. After that there will be no chance to change the subject. Candidates will have to take the exam in the subject recorded in their admission certificate.

To check the exam city, go to the SSC's official website, ssc.gov.in. Click the SSC JE Exam City Slip 2026 Download link on the homepage. Enter the registration number and password. The exam city slip will then appear on the dashboard. Click the download option below it and save it on the screen or on the desktop.
