Most young people preparing for government jobs dread the interview. Even well-prepared candidates sometimes panic over interview nerves or difficult questions. To ease this stress, the Central and state governments advertise many recruitments in which there is no interview. In these jobs the emphasis is entirely on the written exam or educational qualification.

Lakhs of young people across the country want to reach senior posts in administrative or other departments but wish to avoid the interview round. For such candidates, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the railways and banking offer several good options. Selection in these is based only on the exam and eligibility. Applicants should know the selection process and eligibility conditions before applying.

The selection process for most government jobs is long and tough, with several stages, including a written exam and an interview. Those who fear interviews but want a government job without one need not lose heart. A government job of choice can be had without an interview.

The SSC CGL exam is counted among the most popular in the country. For graduates, it is the biggest route to becoming an officer or inspector in Central ministries and departments. It has computer-based Tier-1 and Tier-2 exams, followed immediately by document verification. No interview is held.

The SSC CHSL exam is very popular among Class 12 pass candidates. For posts such as Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and data entry operator, candidates only have to go through the written exam (Tier-1 and Tier-2) and a typing or skill test. There is no interview here either. This lets young people join the administrative service easily at an early age.

Those who have passed Class 10 and dream of joining the armed forces or a police force will find the SSC GD (General Duty) constable recruitment the best. Selection is based on a computer-based written exam, a physical efficiency test (PET/PST) and a medical examination. There is no provision for an interview. Similarly, for SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) jobs, candidates need only pass an online exam.

India Post GDS is a unique and popular recruitment by the postal department. It involves neither the stress of a written exam nor an interview. Candidates are selected directly on the marks scored in Class 10, that is, on merit. For candidates who want to stay away from exam pressure, it is a boon.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Group D and RRB NTPC exams also fall in the no-interview category. For RRB Group D, selection is through a computer-based test (CBT) and a physical test. For NTPC, a CBT and a typing test are held at the graduate and Class 12 levels.

In banking, the IBPS Clerk exam is also held without an interview. For bank clerk posts, candidates only have to pass the preliminary and main exams. A final merit list is then prepared directly.
