The Shri Mata Mahakali Mahotsav began in Chandrapur on Thursday morning, October 15, in a devotional atmosphere. The festival was inaugurated with a palkhi that set out from the Ekvira Mata temple in Ekori ward.
MLA Kishor Jorgewar took part in the palkhi ceremony with his wife and offered prayers to the goddess. He bowed at the feet of Mata Mahakali and took darshan.
The palkhi of Mata Mahakali, which left the Ekvira Mata temple in Ekori ward, passed through different roads of the city and first reached Jorgewar's Rajmata Niwas. It then entered the Mata Mahakali temple by way of the road past the Jain temple. Jorgewar and his wife remained part of the ceremony during this stretch and offered prayers.
The Shri Mata Mahakali Mahotsav is an important part of the faith and religious tradition of the people of Chandrapur. Every year, large crowds of devotees gather for darshan of Mata Mahakali during the festival. The palkhi ceremony is a way of preserving the city's religious tradition and cultural heritage.
