Every citizen has got equality, self-respect and the right to progress because of the Constitution given by Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, MLA Kishor Jorgewar said. According to him, these rights have allowed even the common man to reach the biggest platform of democracy.

Jorgewar said the biggest strength behind his ability to represent the people as an MLA today is the Constitution given by Babasaheb Ambedkar and the right to equality it provides. He also said the Constitution has opened the door to progress for every member of the Burud community.

He was speaking at the quarterly meeting of the central executive of the Vidarbha Burud Samaj Sanghatana, held on Sunday at the Burud Samaj Sabhagruha. Jorgewar spoke freely with community members. He discussed the community's various concerns, people's hopes and the path of its development. After hearing people's feelings, difficulties and suggestions, he also spoke about their expectations.

Those present included Vidarbha Burud Samaj president Adv. Ishwar Charlewar, general secretary Vivek Chilwarwar, Nagpur division vice-president Suresh Puttewar, Amravati vice-president Ramakant Sulabhewar, organising secretary Dipanjali Manthanwar, Nilesh Kankenwar, Swati Wadapalliwar, Rahul Mohitewar, Rajesh Shangrapwar, Anuradha Palladwar, Mohit Madewar, Rajesh Sulabhewar and Sanjay Manjare. Chandrapur district president Guddu Chandewar, city president Sunil Darshanwar and Pankaj Jorgewar were also present.

Jorgewar said the community's development will not come from the efforts of one person or one organisation alone. It requires the guidance of elders, the energy of youth and the unity of all community members. Efforts should be made jointly to give every section of the community equal opportunities to progress. Along with encouraging boys and girls in education, employment and various fields, needy members of the community must also be brought into the mainstream of development.

Speaking of Babasaheb Ambedkar, he said he was not merely the leader of one community. He was a great man who showed the whole country the path of equality, freedom, brotherhood and justice. He studied and struggled in extremely difficult circumstances and made a historic contribution to drafting the Constitution. Through it, he gave every Indian equal rights. For this reason, even people from deprived, weaker and ordinary sections can today advance on the strength of their abilities.

Jorgewar said the Constitution has given everyone equal rights and the right to live with dignity. It is our responsibility to use these rights properly and contribute to the community's development. He appealed to the Burud community to move towards development through education, organisation and social unity. Community members put forward their questions, suggestions and expectations at the meeting, which a large number of them attended.
