The ICC on Wednesday released its latest T20 rankings. India captain Shreyas Iyer, who hit a blistering century in the series against the West Indies, has moved up three places in the batters' list and is now fourth. He is known as "Sarpanch" in the cricket world. It is the best ranking of his career.
Iyer scored a fine century in the first match of the series in Lucknow. It was his first hundred in T20 Internationals. He has benefited from that innings in the new rankings.
With Iyer at fourth, India now have three players in the top five. In the shortest format of the game, Ishan Kishan remains the world's top-ranked batter. Abhishek Sharma is second, just behind him, and Iyer now joins them at fourth.
Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan stays third. He has received a career-best rating after his impressive performance against Sri Lanka.
Among other batters who moved up, Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis rose three places to 23rd. West Indies' Sherfane Rutherford climbed 13 places to share 24th, while India's Sanju Samson moved up four places to share 27th.
In the bowlers' list, however, India were left disappointed. Axar Patel, who was seventh, slipped two places to ninth. Jasprit Bumrah fell one place, dropped out of the top ten and is now 11th.
West Indies' Roston Chase, after his good showing against India, moved up 24 places to 23rd. In the all-rounders' list, he rose two places to third.
There have been many changes in the Test rankings too. They followed Australia's 214-run win over South Africa in the first of a three-Test series at Kingsmead in Durban. Australia batter Matthew Renshaw was Player of the Match, having scored 190 in the first innings and 82 in the second. As a result, Renshaw has reached a joint 49th place in the Test batters' list. Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood took 6 wickets for 49 runs on the last day and has reached seventh place in the bowlers' rankings.
