Rohit Pawar said the senior leader's condition is normal and stable and that he was brought in only for tests, with all his tours cancelled.

NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) national president Sharad Pawar, 85, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai shortly after he was allowed to go home from a hospital in Pune. His condition is stable, and the family and party leaders say he is in hospital for tests.

Pawar had first been taken to Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune after he developed a cough. Cardiologist Dr Parvez Grant and his team treated him there. Rohit Pawar, NCP leader and MLA, said the leader also had a mild infection and felt tired, and was treated for two days. After his condition improved markedly, he was discharged on the morning of Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

His daughter and MP Supriya Sule said on social media after the discharge that he was doing well and that the family had left for Mumbai. On the way, Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned Pawar and asked after his health. Modi advised complete rest and told him, "Supriya Sule and other leaders are handling the responsibility of the country and the party well, so you should now rest without any worry." Pawar thanked the Prime Minister for his kind words and said he was resting fully.

After reaching Mumbai, the family chose not to take any risk and took him to Breach Candy Hospital. Sule announced this on X, writing in English that Baba was being admitted for further tests, and thanked everyone for their concern and good wishes. She also said, "We have admitted Baba to Breach Candy Hospital so that all his further medical tests can be completed comfortably." She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the public and party workers for their love, good wishes and prayers.

Speaking to the media, Rohit Pawar described the readmission as a matter of tests. He said Pawar's condition is normal and his health is good. According to him, the Pune visit was a routine check-up, which is needed every four to five months, and doctors also checked for a possible viral infection picked up while on tour outside. He said Sule and the family felt that tests should be done again once Pawar reached Mumbai, and that is why he went to Breach Candy.

The accounts of the readmission differ in detail. One version says the family took the step as a precaution. Another says his health deteriorated suddenly at night in Mumbai and he had to be readmitted. The timing is also reported differently: some reports put the admission a few hours after the discharge, others a day later. Doctors are carrying out routine tests, and his condition has been described as stable.

Rohit Pawar said all of Sharad Pawar's tours have been cancelled. He said that even at this age Pawar studies the situation during a drought and fights for justice for farmers and farm labourers, and had to call off such a tour when his health worsened somewhat.

Rohit Pawar also spoke about his own tour. As a party worker, he said, he still has age on his side, which is why he has undertaken a tour to press the farmers' rightful demands. He was in Nashik and Buldhana yesterday and will be in Akola today and in Amravati in the evening.

The news has deepened concern about Pawar's health in political circles and among party workers.
