Satara to see three days of traffic curbs for Ganesh immersion procession
Police have ordered a three-day traffic plan in Satara city from September 24 to 26 for the Ganesh immersion procession, closing several roads.
The Ganesh immersion procession will bring major changes to Satara city's traffic arrangements. Police have drawn up a three-day traffic plan, with restrictions in force from 10 am on Thursday, September 24, until 7 am on Saturday, September 26. The aim is to prevent congestion on the procession route and allow devotees to watch the procession safely.
Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingale has issued a notification to this effect under Section 34 of the Bombay Police Act, 1951. It makes major changes to traffic on Rajpath, Moti Chowk, Shanivar Chowk, Radhika Talkies Chowk, Budhwar Naka and the roads leading to the artificial immersion tank.
Traffic will be completely closed in the Rajpath area, and vehicles will not be allowed from either direction on the Kamani Haud-Devi Chowk-Marwadi Chowk-Moti Chowk stretch or the Kamani Haud-Shete Chowk stretch. Traffic will also be closed on the immersion procession route itself, which covers Shete Chowk, Shanivar Chowk, Moti Chowk to Radhika Talkies Chowk, Aikya Press Corner, Budhwar Naka and the artificial immersion tank. Restrictions will also apply in Pratapganj Peth, where vehicles will not be able to travel on the stretch from Katdare Masale shop to DCC Bank and Moti Tale. In Shahupuri, traffic will be closed on the road from Shahupuri police station to Budhwar Naka. Light and heavy vehicles, including ST buses, will face restrictions on the Samarth Mandir to Chandani Chowk route and the Bogada-Samarth Mandir-Shahu Chowk route.
Police have announced an alternative route for vehicles headed to Sajjangad and Kas Plateau. These vehicles will be diverted via Godoli Naka, Shivraj petrol pump, Khindwadi, Shendre-Songaon Phata and the tunnel. Vehicles entering Satara city from Molacha Odha will be routed via Mahanubhav Math, Karanje and Bhuvikas Bank Chowk.
Parking of any kind of vehicle will be completely banned along the entire immersion procession route. Police have said citizens coming to watch the procession should park their vehicles at Talim Sangh ground, Koteshwar ground or other available alternative parking spaces. Ambulances and police and fire brigade vehicles will be exempt from these restrictions.
Police have urged citizens to take a few precautions: use alternative routes when entering the city after 10 am on September 24, avoid parking vehicles along the immersion route, use public transport or alternative routes where possible during the procession, follow traffic police instructions, and keep roads clear for emergency vehicles.
