Mohan Bhagwat holds secret night meeting in Nagpur with select MLAs, corporators
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat held a closed-door meeting with select swayamsevaks, MLAs and corporators in Nagpur, as the RSS also announced its Vijayadashami event for October 20.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat held an important meeting at night with select swayamsevaks of the Sangh Parivar. The meeting was held at Sureshbhat Sabhagruh in Reshimbagh, Nagpur. The meeting was kept entirely confidential, and details of what Bhagwat told the swayamsevaks have not been made public.
Select MLAs, corporators and party office-bearers were also present at the Nagpur meeting. Attendees were not allowed to carry mobile phones into the meeting. According to information, the meeting was attended by select MLAs, corporators, party office-bearers and swayamsevaks. It began at 7:30 pm and ended at 8:30 pm, lasting about an hour. There is now curiosity and speculation in political circles about what actually took place during this one-hour meeting.
Meanwhile, details have also emerged about the RSS's Vijayadashami celebration. The RSS's Vijayadashami festival will be held this year on October 20 at Reshimbagh in Nagpur. Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will deliver his annual address on the occasion. The information was shared via the Sangh's X handle. This year, Dainik Jagran chief editor Sanjay Gupta will attend as the chief guest. The Sangh said the Vijayadashami celebration will be held at Reshimbagh, Nagpur, on the morning of Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 7:40 am, with Sanjay Gupta as chief guest and an address by Dr Mohan Bhagwat.
The Sangh celebrates six festivals through the year: Varsh Pratipada (Gudi Padwa), Shiv Rajyabhishek Din, Raksha Bandhan, Guru Purnima, Vijayadashami and Makar Sankranti. Each of these festivals carries its own significance in the Sangh's philosophy. The Vijayadashami event in Nagpur and the conclusion of the third-year Sangh Shiksha Varg are given special importance. The Sangh's first sarsanghchalak, Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, founded the organisation on Vijayadashami day on September 27, 1925, which is why this day is also observed as the Sangh's foundation day. On this occasion, the sarsanghchalak addresses swayamsevaks, and prominent figures who have contributed in various fields are invited as guests on the Sangh's stage.
In previous years, several well-known personalities have been chief guest on this occasion. On October 5, 2022, mountaineer Padma Shri Santosh Yadav was the chief guest, while on October 24, 2023, at an event at Reshimbagh Maidan, noted singer Padma Shri Shankar Mahadevan was invited. In 2024, ISRO scientist Padma Bhushan Dr K. Radhakrishnan was the chief guest, and in 2025, on the occasion of the Sangh's centenary year, former President Ram Nath Kovind was invited. This time, the responsibility has been given to senior journalist Sanjay Gupta.
