History-sheeter Roshan alias Gotya Mohite fired in the air in Hasanbagh under Nandanvan police station limits on Thursday night and is absconding.
Nagpur: Roshan alias Gotya Mohite, a notorious criminal involved in sand smuggling, created panic by firing in the air at Hasanbagh, under the Nandanvan police station limits, on Thursday night. He has been absconding since the incident, which has caused a stir in the city police. Eight cases, including one of murder, are registered against Mohite.
According to sources, Mohite, a resident of Dasara Marg in Mahal, has a feud with rivals over sand smuggling. This is why he came to Hasanbagh and fired the shots.
On the night of September 30, he went to a bar with three or four associates. After drinking there, he reached Hasanbagh at 1.30 am with them in a car bearing registration number MH-49-DA-3399. Mohite and his associates stopped the car on the main road in Hasanbagh. After reversing, he put his hand out and fired in the air. Eyewitnesses saw three revolvers being waved in the air. Before they could make sense of what was happening, Mohite fled. After the incident he left the city via Butibori.
Out of fear, residents did not inform the police control room of the incident. The Nandanvan police were informed some time later. Senior officers and the Nandanvan police then reached the spot.
