The Hasanbagh area under Nagpur's Nandanvan police station was thrown into panic around midnight when a man in a car fired a pistol and fled. Nobody at the spot knew him. Using the car's registration number and technical investigation, a Crime Branch team still tracked down the accused and caught him in Wani, Yavatmal. He has been identified as Roshan alias Gotya Ashok Mohite Gaikwad, a resident of Dnyaneshwar Nagar, Manewada Road.

Police registered the case on a complaint by Abid Khan Mohammad Khan, a resident of Hasanbagh. Abid was returning home on a two-wheeler at about 1.30 am after finishing work. At Hasanbagh Chowk, in front of DL Motors, a man put his hand out of the window of a car with registration number MH 49 DA 3399 and fired a pistol. Abid was frightened, and the car's driver fled.

Nandanvan police reached the spot on being informed and registered a case against an unknown accused under several sections, including the Arms Act. The car's number gave police a lead to Gotya, but by then he had left the city. PSI Jitesh Arvelli, head constable Devendra Navghare, Govind Deshmukh and Shrikant Marwade of Crime Branch Unit 4 began pursuing him.

When the team reached Chandrapur, it learned that Gotya was heading towards Yavatmal. Police rushed to Wani and caught him. Police have learned that Gotya had a feud with a criminal from Hasanbagh named Shiraz and had been threatening him for the past two months. It is said that on Wednesday night he fired in Hasanbagh to scare and threaten Shiraz. Police had left for Nagpur with him.

In another action, Sakkardara and Tehsil police arrested two accused with weapons. The first action was by Sakkardara police. During patrolling in the Gawandipura area, police saw Feroz Khan Rafique Khan (33), a resident of Solankiwadi, moving about in suspicious circumstances. A search of a box he was carrying turned up two swords. He was arrested at once, the weapons were seized and a case was registered against him.

The second action was by Tehsil police at Dadra bridge in Timki. During patrolling, police caught Khokar alias Sonu KD Alimuddin Khokar (29), a resident of Bhankheda, and a knife was recovered in a search. A case has been registered against both under the Arms Act. Police are questioning the accused in detail and investigating both cases.
