Renault's first self-charging E-Tech hybrid in India reached its first customer on November 6, at the new Hitec City showroom.
The Renault Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 has begun reaching customers. The first customer delivery of the new hybrid SUV took place in Hyderabad on November 6, 2026. The vehicle was launched on October 17, and the first delivery was made at Renault's new showroom in Hitec City.
It is the first E-Tech self-charging hybrid that Renault sells in India. The petrol engine and electric motor work together, so the SUV's emphasis is on fuel saving.
The Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 comes in three variants. The ex-showroom price is Rs 16.99 lakh for the Evolution, Rs 18.99 lakh for the Techno and Rs 19.49 lakh for the Emotion. These introductory prices apply to vehicles delivered by December 31, 2026. Customers who have booked through R-Pass are given priority. General bookings require Rs 21,000.
The SUV has a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, along with 2 electric motors and a 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined power is 160 PS, and the electric traction motor delivers 208 Nm of torque. It has a multimode automatic transmission. The company claims the vehicle goes from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.6 seconds. The battery keeps charging through regenerative braking and the petrol engine, so there is no need to charge it externally.
Design and features include LED headlamps, an illuminated Duster logo, E-Tech badging, 212 mm ground clearance and 18-inch wheels. Select variants also get a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and dual-zone climate control. Six airbags are standard. The company claims mileage of 29 kmpl and a driving range of more than 1,400 km. In the market it competes with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrids.
Renault India is also revamping its retail network. The company plans to convert 73 showrooms in 24 cities to the new format by July 2027, and 30 of them have already been renovated. The company has about 638 sales and service touchpoints across the country, including more than 200 Workshop on Wheels centres.
