Nissan Motor India's domestic sales rose sharply in September 2026. The company sold 3,300 units in India during the month, against 1,652 units in September last year. Sales have nearly doubled over the year, an addition of 1,648 units.

Including domestic sales, Nissan recorded total wholesales of 10,025 units in September, of which 6,725 units were exported. Exports made up nearly 67 per cent of the company's total monthly volume, and its export volume was more than twice its sales in India.

Nissan's sales in India comprise three models: the Tekton, a mid-size SUV; the Magnite, a compact SUV; and the Gravite, a compact MPV. Sales of the Tekton began in early July. In the initial months, however, the SUV does not appear to have achieved the volumes expected. Its performance will therefore be important for Nissan in the period ahead.

Turning to Renault, Renault India made domestic sales of 3,399 units in September, 20 per cent more than in August. In January-September 2026, Renault sold 35,378 units in India, against 25,886 units in the same period last year. This is an increase of 9,492 units, a year-on-year growth of 36.6 per cent.

Renault has recently added a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine to the Triber, with a starting price of Rs 7.84 lakh. The company will launch the Duster E-Tech 160 on October 17, 2026. It will be Renault's first hybrid powertrain model in India. Both Nissan and Renault are also preparing to bring new SUVs and 7-seater models.

In the September figures, the domestic sales of Nissan and Renault were almost the same. With the help of new models, both companies are expected to focus on strengthening their presence in India in the next financial year. The new SUVs, hybrid and 7-seater models have turned attention to the two companies' strategies.
