The firing on actor Tiger Shroff's car has once again raised questions over law and order in Maharashtra. People are asking what will happen to the safety of ordinary citizens if Bollywood stars are attacked like this in a city such as Mumbai. Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) MP Sanjay Raut has used the issue to target the state government.
In a social media post, Raut questioned the state's law and order. Citing the murder of Purnekar in Thane and the firing on Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai, he criticised the government's functioning. Targeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he demanded that President's Rule be imposed in the state.
Raut said it is the government's responsibility to keep crime under control. On this basis, he targeted Fadnavis's Home department. According to Raut, these incidents have made the question of safety in the state serious.
On the evening of Sunday, October 18, unidentified attackers opened fire on Tiger Shroff's car in Mumbai's Juhu area. He was reportedly returning after playing football. Shroff escaped serious injury, but his driver and a person nearby were hurt.
After the incident, Mumbai Police formed teams to investigate. A claim has been made on social media that the accused are linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The police teams searched for them, and the accused were detained from Kota in Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, the family of Pradeep Purnekar has also spoken of their pain. Ram Purnekar has criticised Eknath Shinde. His complaint is that Shinde met Tiger Shroff but did not come to see the Purnekar family, who live only 20 minutes from his house. Ram Purnekar also said that he will fast outside Eknath Shinde's house to get Pradeep Purnekar justice quickly.
Because of these two incidents, the issue of the state's security has moved to the centre of political discussion. Police are investigating the case. All eyes are now on what the investigation turns up and what action is taken against the guilty.
