Producer Namit Malhotra has taken a new step to take "Ramayana" to as many viewers across the country as possible. Prime Focus Studios and JioHotstar have entered into a partnership for this. Under it, "Ramayana: Part One" will reach audiences through digital platforms after its theatrical release.

Notably, JioHotstar is getting a pay-per-view facility for the first time. Viewers will be able to watch the film by paying separately.

The film, produced by Malhotra, will release in cinemas worldwide on 5 November 2026. It will come in Hindi as well as Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English. Premium cinematic formats, including IMAX 3D, have also been considered for the film.

After its theatrical run ends, Indian viewers will be able to watch it on JioHotstar through a special on-demand purchase option. Besides the regular subscription, the facility will open the way to buy the film separately and watch it. The aim of the partnership is to take the film to viewers across the country using JioHotstar's technical capability and wide digital reach.

Speaking on the partnership, Malhotra spoke of the importance of experiencing "Ramayana" on the biggest screen and in IMAX 3D. He also said the country's cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who has an emotional bond with the epic.

Malhotra said "Ramayana belongs to every Indian", and in that spirit he wants the film to reach people's homes and the devices in their hands after its theatrical run. In his view, JioHotstar is the right partner for this.

JioStar chairperson Nita M. Ambani also expressed happiness over the partnership. According to her, "Ramayana" is not just an epic but an integral part of India's cultural heritage. She said the story has shaped the collective consciousness of Indians for centuries and inspired their imagination.

Ambani said JioHotstar's goal is to bring the finest stories to every Indian through technology. She said it is a matter of pride to get the chance to reach families across the country through the grand cinematic presentation of "Ramayana". She is confident this will help introduce the new generation to the epic's timeless values such as duty, love, courage and virtue.

"Ramayana" is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The two-part live-action cinematic presentation, produced by Prime Focus Studios, has a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan. The film is based on the Valmiki Ramayana.

Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi Sita, Yash Ravana, Sunny Deol Hanuman and Ravi Dubey Lakshman. Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal also play important roles.

The music is by Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman. Production design is by Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery, while the action choreography is by Terry Notary and Guy Norris.

Eight-time Oscar-winning production and visual effects studio DNEG, along with Yash's Monster Mind Creations, has also contributed to the making of the film. The makers aim to bring together talent from Indian and international cinema to put the world of "Ramayana" on screen on a grand scale.

No information has yet been given on the exact date of the digital release or the pay-per-view price.
