There is considerable anticipation among audiences for Ramayana, the upcoming film starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rocking Star Yash. On the occasion of Dussehra, the makers released a special glimpse of Yash as Ravana. The musical glimpse is titled "Rise of Asura" and shows Yash in a powerful avatar. The makers also announced that advance booking for the film will begin on October 20.
Yash's look in Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra, has caught fans' attention. In the new glimpse he appears as Ravana, the mighty king of Lanka. His commanding body language, sharp expressions and strong screen presence bring out the grandeur of the character.
The glimpse presents Ravana's persona through a musical piece. In Hindi it is titled "Rise of Asura", while in Kannada it is presented as "Ravana Tandava" and in Tamil and Telugu as "Ravana Tandavam".
In Hindu mythology, the Tandava is considered the cosmic dance associated with Lord Shiva. It is regarded as symbolising the cycles of creation, preservation and destruction. Ravana, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, is linked with the Shiva Tandava Stotram. The glimpse released on Dussehra brings out different facets of Ravana's devotion to Shiva, his strength and his personality. Yash, who plays Ravana, appears in a different style in it.
The musical piece has been released under the T-Series music label. Vishal Dadlani has lent his voice to the Hindi version and Dr Kumar Vishwas has written the lyrics. A. R. Ameen and Hiral Viradia handled music supervision. The Tamil version features the voices of Anirudh Ravichander and G. V. Prakash Kumar.
In the film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor will play Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will play Sita, Yash will play Ravana, Sunny Deol will play Hanuman and Ravie Dubey will play Lakshman.
Dussehra is a festival associated with Lord Ram's victory over Ravana. For this reason, special significance is being attached to the release of a glimpse of the Ravana character on the occasion. Fans are eager to see this fresh telling of the epic on the big screen.
Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios has made the film together with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Ramayana will come in two parts. The first part will be released in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027. Both parts will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. The film can also be watched in the IMAX format.
With the Ravana glimpse on Dussehra and the advance booking announcement, Ramayana is once again in the spotlight. Fans are now waiting to see how this grand telling of the epic translates on the big screen.
