BJYM state vice-president Raghuveer Hansraj Ahir raised drinking water, drought relief and local jobs with WCL's Wani area general manager Sanjay Mishra.

Chandrapur: BJYM state vice-president Raghuveer Hansraj Ahir met Sanjay Mishra, regional general manager of the Wani area of WCL, on 02/11/2026, with the aim of getting basic problems of WCL-affected villages resolved, protecting residents' rights and ensuring all-round development of the villages. Several issues concerning the public were discussed in detail at the meeting.

The meeting focused mainly on three matters: the difficulties being faced by people in the affected villages, jobs for local unemployed youth, and relief reaching drought-hit families. Ghugus corporators Ganesh Pimpalkar, along with Mayur Bhokare, Vishal Damer, Raman Tandra, Shyam Khewale, Ganesh Musale, Sinha Mahakale, Dhananjay Singh, Shailesh Dindewar and Chetan Sharma, were present.

On clean drinking water, an important demand was raised that an RO water treatment plant be set up in the affected villages from the company's CSR (corporate social responsibility) fund. It was said that clean and safe water for villagers is a major health issue, and the hope was expressed that the WCL administration would take concrete steps.

The second issue was drought. Almost the whole of Chandrapur district has been declared drought-hit. Against this background, it was discussed that needy families in WCL-affected villages should be given foodgrain to provide relief. Many village families are struggling financially because of the drought. It was demanded that the WCL administration help the needy, fulfilling its social responsibility.

Employment was also raised specifically. It was demanded that local unemployed youth get the first chance in WCL's overburden (OB) companies. The argument made was that when the area's natural resources are being used, it is essential that the youth of the same area get jobs. Appropriate action was therefore sought to get local youth work in these companies.

Regional general manager Sanjay Mishra responded positively on all these issues. It was also made clear at the meeting that follow-up would be continuous to resolve the problems of people in the affected villages and secure their rightful entitlements.

Raghuveer Hansraj Ahir said efforts would continue to secure justice for people in WCL-affected villages, resolve their basic problems and bring about all-round development of the villages.
