Thane: Twenty-six days have passed since the murder of Pradeep Purnekar, but his son Ram Purnekar says the investigation has not shown the progress it should have. Ram alleged that the case remains stuck where it was.
Ram Purnekar held a press conference on Saturday, October 24. He said 13 CCTV clips have already been given to the police. He claimed the footage holds evidence against the alleged mastermind. Despite this, no action has been taken against the people he is naming, and he expressed anger over this.
At the press conference, Ram referred to a white Innova car. He claimed the vehicle belongs to a particular person. He asked why the car was moving around the area between 8.10 am and 8.40 am.
Ram also demanded the arrest of Meenakshi Shinde and Rajendra Shinde.
Ram also criticised the way the police have worked. He alleged that on October 13, 2026, officers from Kasarwadavali police station came to his house and sat there for about three hours. According to Ram, they made him write a letter saying he would not launch an agitation. Ram also said the handwriting in that letter is not his.
Ram also questioned the composition of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed for the probe. He demanded that it be made clear who is leading the investigation.
Ram said he no longer trusts that giving the police more evidence will help. He has therefore decided to take his concerns to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Home Department, and to place all the evidence directly before the Chief Minister. He also said several political leaders had earlier visited his home and given assurances, but he is pained that no concrete action is visible.
Making an emotional appeal, Ram said, "Give my father justice." He repeated his demand for action against the people he has named in the case.
