The 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', being run to take various government schemes directly to eligible people, should not be limited to a month and must keep going, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said on October 16. He said it is the administration's responsibility to ensure citizens get their due and the benefits of government schemes, and that every officer and employee must work with sensitivity.

According to Shinde, benefits of 26 types of schemes are being given to eligible citizens through various departments under the campaign. The target is to reach about 1.5 lakh beneficiaries. Departments involved include health, women and child development, education, social welfare, agriculture, animal husbandry and water supply. Help for students, including bicycles, school supplies, computers, laptops and water coolers, is also being given.

Over the past month, the Collector's office, the Zilla Parishad and several government departments made sincere efforts for the campaign, which is why the schemes could reach a large number of beneficiaries. Shinde congratulated all departments and thanked all officers and employees.

Along the lines of 'Sarkar Aapke Dwar', Shinde said ordinary citizens should receive the benefits of government schemes at their doorstep. He said that when a citizen comes to a government office with a complaint or problem, the citizen should meet an officer who listens and understands the problem. He made clear that not every task can be done, but treating citizens with respect and understanding their problem is the administration's responsibility.

Shinde also said the campaign drew its inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work in the spirit of service. Referring to Modi's 25 years of service in public life, he said the country is being taken on the path of development with the thinking of 'Nation First'.

He also spoke of the distress of farmers in the state. Shinde said the state government stands firmly with farmers in the conditions of excess rain and drought. According to him, the Cabinet has decided to give farmers an immediate advance of Rs 5,000. He added that efforts are under way, with coordination between the Centre and the state government, to pull farmers out of this crisis.

Shinde said the government is also focusing on giving young people employment and self-employment opportunities. He said giving youth work through skill development, start-ups and training is the need of the hour.

Shinde said, "More important than position, money or property is how many people you have earned and how much of their love you have received." With this, he appealed to the administration to deal with ordinary people with warmth and sensitivity. According to him, the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is not just a government programme but an ongoing initiative to bring positive change to the lives of ordinary citizens. He therefore appealed for it to be continued, with a wider scope and more beneficiaries.

Shinde was speaking at a Seva Sankalp Abhiyan event at Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan in Thane. Present were MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Ravindra Phatak, Badlapur Mayor Ruchita Ghorpade, Konkan Divisional Commissioner Rubal Agarwal, Thane Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Thane Collector Shrikrishna Panchal, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ranjit Yadav, Resident Deputy Collector Sandeep Mane and beneficiaries from across the district.
