New Delhi: There is reassuring news about Captain Smit Machhar, the Indian pilot who was seriously injured in the incident on flydubai flight FZ1073. The Indian embassy in the United Arab Emirates, giving an update on his condition, said he is responding well to treatment.
In a post on the social media platform X, the embassy said Captain Machhar is receiving the best possible treatment and his condition is improving. The embassy said it is in constant touch with his family and local authorities, and the necessary help is being provided.
On September 30, a serious incident took place in the cockpit of the flydubai FZ1073, which was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv. According to information available, the aircraft's co-pilot attacked Captain Machhar. The aircraft then made a safe emergency landing at Tabuk in Saudi Arabia.
Despite being seriously injured in the attack, Captain Machhar managed to open the cockpit door. Passengers and crew members then helped bring the situation under control. All 174 passengers on board were safe.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised Captain Machhar's courage. The two also spoke over a video call. Machhar's courage is being discussed in India and abroad.
The embassy reiterated that Captain Machhar's treatment is continuing and his condition is improving. His family is being given the necessary help and coordination. Meanwhile, an official investigation into the incident is under way, examining the actual motive behind the attack and the full sequence of events.
