Experts gather at IISc Bengaluru for MindTech Summit 2026 on AI and mental health
The two-day summit on October 5 and 6 brings together clinicians, researchers, technologists, policymakers and start-ups to discuss artificial intelligence in mental health care.
The MindTech Summit 2026, on the growing relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and mental health, is being held at the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru. The programme runs for two days, October 5 and 6.
The summit is organised by TANUH, which stands for Translational AI for Networked Universal Healthcare. This year's central theme is mental health in the age of AI.
According to the organisers, the summit aims to bring clinicians, researchers, technology experts, industry representatives, policymakers and start-ups onto one platform to discuss the growing use of AI in mental health. The organisers said work on AI in mental health is under way across research, clinical practice and technology in India and around the world. They said good coordination among all these areas is essential.
The summit includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, expert lectures and an exhibition of emerging solutions in health technology.
The keynote speakers include Ipsit Vahia of Harvard, Tanzeem Choudhury of Cornell Tech, Chi-Chun (Jeremy) Lee of National Tsing Hua University and Dr Venkat Bhat of the University of Toronto.
Registration on the first day ran from 8.30 am to 9.30 am. A welcome ceremony followed, and the programme began at about 10 am. In the first keynote session, Dr Ipsit Vahia of Harvard University spoke on the topic "From sensors to direct action: the many complex aspects of bringing AI into healthcare".
In simple terms, he spoke about the various difficulties in taking AI from the information gathered by sensors to the actual care of patients. A panel discussion followed on the topic "Setting limits: what should the role of artificial intelligence in mental health be?"
