Pandharpur woman, 70, held for killing neighbour after affair turned sour
Police in Pandharpur arrested a 70-year-old woman for murdering her neighbour after their relationship led to a dispute.
A shocking case has come to light from Pandharpur taluka in Solapur district, where a relationship between two elderly people ended in a brutal murder. Police have arrested a 70-year-old woman in the case.
According to information received, Ambadas Khandekar and Mangal Honmane, both residents of Pandharpur taluka, had been in a relationship for several years. Over time, disputes broke out between the two. Following one such dispute, Mangal killed Ambadas in a field and, in an attempt to destroy evidence, partially burned his body and buried it. The incident is believed to have taken place around July 27.
On August 2, some villagers found a partially burned and buried body in the field and immediately informed the police. Police reached the spot and called in a forensic team to begin identifying the body.
During the investigation, police learnt that Ambadas Khandekar, a resident of the village, had been missing for several days. About one and a half months after the incident, a DNA test report on Ambadas's two daughters confirmed that the body was indeed his. Once the identification was made, Pandharpur police acted swiftly, completing their investigation within 12 hours and arresting the accused, Mangal Honmane.
The police investigation found that Mangal killed 70-year-old Ambadas following the relationship and a minor dispute that arose from it. However, the exact reason behind the dispute between the two has not yet been established. Police are investigating the case further to determine the precise motive behind the murder.
