British premium motorcycle brand Norton is preparing to strengthen its hold in India. The company is owned by TVS Motor, and it is reported that it may bring out a new 450cc single-cylinder roadster.
The motorcycle may debut at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, in November 2026. Its launch in the Indian market is expected in the second half of 2027. It may slot below the company's Atlas and Manx models. The company has not yet announced any date.
The new Norton 450cc roadster is likely to be produced at TVS Motor's Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. The plant could play an important role in Norton's Indian production. The first Atlas motorcycle is said to have been built at the same plant in June 2026. TVS is also said to have invested more than 250 million British pounds in developing the brand since buying Norton in April 2020.
On the engine, the bike may get a liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit. It could produce 40 to 45 hp of power and more than 45 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox is likely. A new engine platform called the H-series may be used, and the company may plan to build more motorcycles on it.
The design may combine retro and modern styling. Features are likely to include 17-inch wheels, an 8-inch TFT display, riding modes and an electronic throttle. Dual-channel ABS and traction control may also be offered. All these features are only probable, as the company has not officially released the full specifications.
On launch in India, the bike may compete with the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 and Triumph's mid-capacity motorcycles. The GST rate applicable to motorcycles with engines above 350cc may also affect its price. Norton's dealership network in India is limited, so sales, service and availability of spare parts will also be important issues. The final price and its reach among customers will matter for its success. The final competitive models will depend on its price and specifications.
