Actress Rakhi Sawant has landed in legal trouble once again. A court in Uttar Pradesh has issued a non-bailable warrant against her in a 2010 suicide case. According to the government counsel, the step was taken because Sawant did not appear in court despite repeated summons. The next hearing in the case is on December 1.

The case is 16 years old. It concerns the suicide of Laxman Ahirwar, a resident of the Hansari Prem Nagar area of Jhansi. It is alleged that Ahirwar took his own life on November 10, 2010. The allegation is that derogatory remarks were purportedly made about him on Sawant's TV show "Rakhi Ka Insaaf", and that he took the step out of hurt over them.

Laxman's mother, Savitri, had filed a complaint at the Prem Nagar police station. She alleged that in an episode of the show aired in October 2010, Sawant used derogatory and objectionable language about her son.

According to the complaint, Laxman Ahirwar and his wife, Anita, had been invited on "Rakhi Ka Insaaf" to discuss their marital dispute. After a quarrel between the couple, Anita had returned to her parents' home. The complaint alleged that Laxman was deeply hurt by what Sawant purportedly said during the matter.

District Government Counsel (Criminal) Mridulkant Srivastava said Sawant did not present herself in court even after repeated summons were issued. Civil Judge (Junior Division) Anjali then issued the non-bailable warrant against her on Friday.
