A newlywed woman died by suicide by hanging in N-13 Wankhedenagar in the Hudco area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, causing a stir in the neighbourhood. The deceased has been identified as Sanjana Nilesh Shejwal, 23. She had been married for only four months.

Sanjana was the youngest daughter of Raosaheb Magre of Jalna. She had completed a computer diploma. She married Nilesh Shejwal on June 4, 2026. Her family alleges that while the match was being fixed, Nilesh described himself as a government officer. Believing their daughter's future would be secure, the family held the wedding with great pomp.

According to the allegation, within a few days of the wedding the family learnt that Nilesh was not a government officer. He works at a consultancy that sends students abroad. Her family says that even after the deceit came to light, Sanjana tried to keep the marriage going.

Her family also alleges that she was repeatedly taunted at her in-laws' home over cooking and lifestyle. Relatives say she remained under mental stress because of this.

The night before the incident, Sanjana phoned her mother and, in tears, spoke of the trouble she was facing at her in-laws' home. The day after the call, she was found unconscious in a room on the upper floor of the house. Family members rushed her to hospital, but doctors declared her dead after examining her.

Her family has since made serious allegations against the in-laws. Relatives allege that the in-laws delayed informing them of the incident and then left straight from the hospital.

A complaint has been filed at Begumpura police station, and police are taking further legal action. Police are investigating the actual reasons behind Sanjana's suicide and how much truth there is in the allegations made by her family.
