Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) said on Tuesday that its in-flight catering facility, run with Taj SATS at the airport, is ready to keep pace with the growing services of airlines. According to the airport, the preparation has been made ahead of the Winter 2026-27 schedule, which will run from October 25 to March 27, 2027.

The flight kitchen, located within the airport premises, currently prepares food for more than 40 flights a day. Its capacity is 7,500 meals a day. If the number of airlines and passengers grows, the facility can be expanded to up to 15,000 meals a day.

NMIA Chief Airport Officer Subhash Murikenchari said: "As NMIA's airline network expands, the supporting infrastructure must also develop at the same pace." He also said the Taj SATS flight kitchen helps airlines meet rising demand and improves the dining experience of passengers.

According to Murikenchari, the facility includes the infrastructure, refrigeration systems and operating processes needed for cooking. These have been designed to work according to changes in airline schedules and demand.

Because the kitchen is within the airport premises, delivering food to aircraft becomes easier. NMIA said international airlines flying to and from India get one more catering option near the airport.

According to airport information, about 40 per cent of international airlines flying out of India arrange catering from their own flight kitchens. NMIA's in-flight catering infrastructure has been built to meet this need as well as the catering requirements of Indian airlines.

The facility provides catering services to both domestic and international airlines. Special meals are prepared here, and a variety of dishes are made with allergies in mind.

NMIA also said the kitchen follows food safety and quality standards. These include Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), ISO 22000 and the rules of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Taj SATS has been in airline catering for more than four decades. The company also runs a flight kitchen at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

The airport said the facility is already operational. Its capacity can be raised further as air connectivity and passenger numbers grow.
