MSRTC to run Dadar-Navi Mumbai airport bus from October 7, with Borivali and Swargate services
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation will launch airport bus services on three routes, with Dadar the first, to improve connectivity to Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced a special bus service to improve connectivity to Navi Mumbai International Airport. The Dadar-Navi Mumbai International Airport bus will start on October 7. Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik will inaugurate the airport service.
Airport bus services are also starting on two other routes besides Dadar: Borivali to Navi Mumbai International Airport and Swargate to Navi Mumbai International Airport. Passengers will thus be able to reach the airport from three routes.
Navi Mumbai International Airport is an ambitious step that will give a new direction to Maharashtra's development. Building an airport is important, but equally important is linking it with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, the Konkan and other parts of the state through a strong public transport system. Against this background, the MSRTC bus starting from Dadar will be important for passengers.
"The MSRTC airport bus service will be significant in strengthening connectivity to Navi Mumbai International Airport. By linking the airport with MSRTC's extensive public transport network, ordinary citizens, working people, students and air travellers will get a safe and reliable means of travel," Mr Sarnaik said.
MSRTC's "Lalpari" buses have reached every corner of the state. Using this large network, the corporation will provide bus services in phases, as required, so that passengers can reach Navi Mumbai International Airport easily. Dadar is a major transport hub in Mumbai, so a direct bus from there to the airport will be a big convenience for passengers.
Mr Sarnaik said MSRTC is committed to making travel easier, safer and quicker for passengers coming to the airport from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and other parts of the state. He also said uninterrupted, easily available public transport to the airport is the true mark of a modern transport system.
Mr Sarnaik said the combination of Navi Mumbai International Airport and MSRTC's extensive public transport network will be an important link in Maharashtra's development journey. He added that MSRTC is resolved to give passengers a safe, comfortable and quality airport bus service.
