Nashik cyber police book 23 over circulation of about 250 child sexual abuse videos
Cases have been registered against 23 tipline ID holders, profile holders and mobile holders after videos were spread on social media over about a year and a half.
A shocking case involving the sexual exploitation of children has come to light in Nashik city. A cyber police investigation has found that about 250 videos linked to the sexual abuse of minors were circulated on social media over roughly a year and a half.
Cases have been registered against 23 tipline ID holders, profile holders and the holders of the mobile numbers concerned. Nashik cyber police took the action after examining technical evidence, acting on an alert received from the Union Home Ministry. A cyber mechanism is active across the country to act against the circulation of such material.
According to police, the suspects circulated such videos on social media between November 11, 2024 and July 27, 2026. The police began a technical investigation after receiving information from an international cyber tipline and IP addresses linked to Nashik city. It emerged that about 250 videos had been uploaded or circulated. Cases were then registered against 23 people, and their digital activities are being examined.
Police are also looking into whether the matter is limited to a few people or a larger racket is behind it. They are also checking whether the suspects used fake profiles on social media, and whether any attempt was made through them to blackmail the minors or their parents. The remaining people linked to the case are being traced on the basis of technical and forensic evidence.
Police have made it clear that people should avoid forwarding, downloading or saving any material linked to the sexual exploitation of minors. If such material is received, it can be reported to the social media platform concerned and information can be given on the national cyber crime portal. According to the Nashik district administration, the 1930 helpline is available for cyber crimes.
