The late Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Centre at Kamal Chowk in Nagpur will now be able to treat more dialysis patients than before. The centre aims to provide better treatment to poor and economically weaker patients in the city, and its dialysis service has been expanded as part of this effort.

The expanded facility was formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Kanchan Gadkari and orthopaedic specialist Dr Sanjeev Chaudhary.

Earlier, the centre could dialyse only 5 patients at a time. Five new dialysis machines have now been installed, taking the total capacity to 10 patients. Nitin Gadkari expressed happiness over the expansion, saying the new machines would bring relief to patients in need. He also said that free dialysis facility would soon be started at the centre under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana.

Besides dialysis, the centre offers tests for several other serious ailments at very low rates, including MRI, CT scan, ECG, EEG, X-ray, sonography, echo, stress test and stool and urine tests.

Those present at the inauguration included Sarang Gadkari, Rajiv Potdar, Dr Khaparde, Prabhakarrao Yewale, Avinash Ghushe, Atul Mandlekar, Prakash Tekade, Sanjay Tekade, Hemant Gadkari, Manish Kedia, Darshan Pandey, Dr Rohit Badge, Dr Aastha Khemka, Dr Shrirang Varadpande, Mohini Khaparde, Omprakash Igale, Dinesh Ilme, Dr Abhijeet Dhawale, Dr Vaibhav Bisne, Dr Tasleem Wasim, Snehal Gulhane, Suraj Pandey and Ram Labhe.

Under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY), which brings central and state government health schemes to the ground, eligible patients covered by the scheme will now get dialysis at the centre completely free. Patients who do not fall under the scheme will continue to get the facility at a very nominal fee.
