Nagpur: Youth attacked at Pardi temple square over Instagram comment, two groups clash

Nagpur: A comment on social media has landed a youth in trouble. The other group, angered by a remark made on Instagram, allegedly plotted an attack and called the youth to Hanuman Mandir Chowk in Pardi on the pretext of giving him a tip about an incident. The youth reached the spot with a friend, but 8 to 10 youths who were lying in wait there attacked him. On learning that he had been injured, his associates also arrived at the spot. The two groups then clashed fiercely. The incident, on the night of October 28, spread tension in the area. Pardi police have registered a case of rioting and assault against both groups and begun an investigation.

According to police, a youth named Golu had posted a comment on an Instagram account, which angered the other group. Instead of settling the dispute or talking it out, Golu was allegedly called to Hanuman Mandir Chowk in Pardi on the pretext of being given a tip about an incident. Golu reached the spot with his friend Veer. He had no idea that an attack had been planned for him there.

As soon as Golu arrived, 8 to 10 youths attacked and injured him. After the attack, Golu informed his associates about the incident, and they too reached the spot. The dispute then turned more violent. Golu's associates also beat up the youths who had attacked him. The clash between the two groups created an atmosphere of tension around Hanuman Mandir Chowk for some time.

Following the incident, Pardi police registered a case of rioting on Golu's complaint. On the complaint of the other group, they registered a case against Golu for hurting religious sentiments.
