Police arrested a 25-year-old man after a video showed him brandishing a sword at a shopkeeper during a dispute over mobile repair work in Pardi.

A man has been arrested in Nagpur's Pardi area on the charge of threatening a shopkeeper with a sword after a dispute over mobile repair work. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media, after which police began action.

The incident is said to have taken place at around 1.30 pm on September 30 at Pawan Mobile Shoppe near Bhatti Chowk, which falls under the Pardi police station limits. According to police, a dispute had broken out between shopkeeper Pawan Ghumde and Suraj Praveen Waghmare over mobile repair work.

Waghmare is alleged to have pulled out a sword during the argument and threatened the shopkeeper. He is also accused of abusing Pawan and waving the sword near his neck, which spread panic in the shop.

Someone is said to have recorded the entire incident on a mobile phone. The video then went viral on social media. After it surfaced, police began an inquiry into the matter.

Based on a complaint, Pardi police registered a case under the relevant sections and arrested Suraj Waghmare, 25. Further investigation is under way.
