Crime Branch Unit-6 police arrested two men after raiding the Automotive Chowk area in Nagpur as part of a crackdown on illegal drug sales in the city. Police recovered 18 grams of MD powder meant for sale from them, valued at around Rs 90,000.

The incident took place on the night of September 18. A Crime Branch Unit-6 team was patrolling the city when they spotted two young men behaving suspiciously near Automotive Chowk, in front of the JCB company office close to Shere Punjab Lawns. Police grew suspicious, stopped the two and searched them, recovering 18 grams of MD powder. Initial questioning revealed the drugs had been brought to sell to a customer.

Police arrested Manoj Mohanlal Gupta (30), a resident of Shahu Mohalla, Yashodhara Nagar, and Richard Pranut Fredricks (24), a resident of Kapil Nagar. Both were handed over to the night duty officer at Pachpaoli police station for further legal action.

Besides the drugs, police also seized other items from the accused, including Rs 500 in cash, an Activa scooter worth around Rs 80,000, two mobile phones worth Rs 52,000, and a Tata Nexon car worth around Rs 10 lakh. Including the MD powder, police seized goods worth a total of Rs 12,23,000.

One more accused in the case remains at large. Police have named Lakku Shahu, a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, Nagpur, as a wanted accused and are searching for him. Police are also trying to trace the source of the MD supply and identify others involved in the network.

The arrested accused have been booked under sections 8(a), 22(b) and 29 of the NDPS Act. The complaint was filed by PSI Rahul Rote of Crime Branch Unit-6. The operation was carried out by the Unit-6 team under the guidance of DCP Deepak Agarwal and Police Inspector Bharat Karhade.
