MSIDC floats tender for Rs 1,000 crore Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan extension
MSIDC has invited bids for the Rs 1,000 crore Vidhan Bhavan extension project in Nagpur, to be completed in 15 months.
The Nagpur Vidhan Bhavan extension project is set to begin actual construction. The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, or MSIDC, has issued a tender for the project, worth close to Rs 1,000 crore. The work will be carried out in two parts and is targeted for completion in 15 months.
A major change is coming to Nagpur's administrative area. Under the Vidhan Bhavan extension, a world class administrative complex will be built at a cost of around Rs 1,000 crore. MSIDC has floated the tender for this. The complex will feature high tech infrastructure, a smart MEP system and modern architecture, changing the look of Nagpur's administrative area.
According to available information, the project will combine Plot 1 and Plot 2 to build the Vidhan Bhavan extension and administrative building. The entire complex is planned to be developed as modern, environment friendly and equipped with world class facilities. The project design has been finalised and the tender process for construction has now begun. The work has been split into two parts, with about Rs 661 crore proposed for one part and Rs 339 crore for the other, taking the total cost to around Rs 1,000 crore.
Plot 1 will house the main administrative building. This will include a new council hall, secretariat offices and high level meeting rooms. Visitor galleries, a VIP lounge and a press briefing room will also be built for the public, media and VIPs. To give the building a modern look, work such as a premium facade, structural glass glazing and stone cladding will be carried out.
Plot 2 will house the new administrative complex. This will include additional offices for various government departments, a parliamentary committee room and a block for support staff. The approach roads and open spaces around the complex will also be developed. The project proposes to use construction elements such as smart infrastructure, a modern MEP system, RCC structural work, glass glazing and terracotta jali.
MSIDC executive engineer Naresh Borkar said the Vidhan Bhavan extension project is now set to move to the ground, with the construction tender issued. He said the project has a target of 15 months for completion, and the tender also makes an operations and maintenance period mandatory.
